Frequently Asked Questions
What behavioural problems do we deal with?
? The team at Training Four Paws have years of experience in tackling excessive barking, biting, resource guarding, poor recall, anxiety, phobias, digging, pulling and lunging on the lead, destructive behaviours, separation anxiety, reactivity to other dogs and more. In order to deal with these behaviours, we will work with you to fully understand the cause and build personalised rehabilitation plan around your needs and the needs of your dog.?
Where are you located / what areas do you service?
? Training Four Paws is based in Bonogin Valley, which is a 10-minute drive from the M1 and the suburbs of Robina and Mudgeeraba. We currently run regular pack walks covering the Southern end of the Gold Coast from Surfers Paradise to Currumbin. We are pleased to cover the entire Gold Coast for behaviour assessments and individual training.?
What age can I start training my dog?
? We can start training your puppy from eight weeks old. Your puppy should remain with its mother until at least eight weeks of age, which is why we do not train puppies younger than this. We aim to provide you with the necessary skills to lay the foundation for developing a deep and lasting bond with your puppy. Getting the basics right from the outset can save heartache and frustration as your puppy grows into an adult dog.?
What is covered in our puppy training classes?
? Our puppy foundation-training package comprises four x 1-hour private sessions. These classes are designed for puppies aged between 8-24 weeks and covers: - The milestones of puppy development - Understanding puppy behaviour - Appropriate handling of your puppy - Diet and feeding regimes - Appropriate exercise regimes - Toilet training - Sleep settling techniques - Crate training - Positive training methods with which to condition and shape your puppy’s behaviour - Creating good manners and behaviour around your children, family and friends - The basics of obedience training - Safe and appropriate puppy socialisation ?
Can I train my adult dog that has never had training before?
? Yes absolutely. A dog can learn new skills at any age; however, it may take a little longer than training a younger dog.?
What is a Behavioural Assessment and how can it help me?
? The aim of the behaviour assessment is to gain a complete understanding of any undesirable behaviour. We must also get an insight into your individual circumstances as an owner. We start by having an in-depth discussion about your dog, then move on to address any issues in and outside of the home. We usually accompany you on a walk to assess the dog’s behaviour, and your handling, outside of the home. Having gathered all the necessary information, we begin working with you to establish a personalised rehabilitation plan. It may be that with professional direction, you can implement the changes needed at home on your own; or in some cases further training might be recommended to achieve the desired results. Whatever the problem, we will work tirelessly to find the solution. Our friendly behaviour assessment is obligation and judgment free. ?
What payment methods do you accept?
? We accept electronic funds transfers and cash payments.?
How do I join your dog walking groups?
? Contact us on 0412 415 000 for a friendly chat about your dog’s needs. Our trainer will then arrange a free meet and greet to assess suitability and then organise your dog’s regular walks. Our dog walking service includes free pick-up and drop-off.?
Is your puppy training one-on-one or group training?
? Currently we offer one-on-one puppy training sessions, however group sessions can be arranged upon request.?
What is your booking and cancellation policy?
? Cancellations: We understand that life happens, and you may need to cancel or reschedule a pack walk or training session. We are happy to reschedule your training sessions or pack walk provided we are given 48 hours’ notice. We are a small company and failure to provide the required 48 hours notice results in us losing a paying customer. All training programmes (puppy, juvenile, adult, socialisation) must be completed within 12 weeks of beginning your first session. Behaviour Assessments bookings: Please pay a deposit of $50 at the time of booking to secure your place.?
